About The Book

Julia Lee provides the reader with a glimpse into her life as a first-generation Korean American woman born and raised in the United States, learning about her multiple identities: as Korean, as a woman, and as the daughter of immigrant parents. Lee narrates her struggle to claim her place and racial identity in an America that— both historically and presently— sees only black and white.
